Story
On Decemer 6th 2013, our colleague, Quentin (and wife Kate), received the devastating news that their Daughter, Lily, had taken her own life. Lily's death was a complete shock as there had been no warning signs. Quentin and Kate have been supported through their difficult time by PAPYRUS, a charity devoted to preventing youth suicides.
Every year 600-800 under 24s take their lives. In England and Wales 24,000 suicide attempts are made each year by 10-19 year olds - one every 20 minutes.
Teenage suicide is a taboo subject that needs to be brought out into the open. We have to work to remove the stigma associated with suicide. With funds and support Scotland have reduced their suicide rate by 18%. It is preventable.
We are going to be tackling the Yorkshire Warrior (10 mile) assault course on 12th April to help raise awareness (and hopefully some cash) for PAPYRUS, in the hope that it can help prevent further youth suicides . All that we ask in return is that you:
1) take 5 minutes to read the PAPYRUS website and tell someone about it to help raise awareness of Youth Suicide (one of the objectives of the Charity)
2) pledge some cash via this site or by texting PAPY50 £5 (or any amount (e.g. £1, £2, £3, £10)) to 70070 (This money will help PAPYRUS raise awareness and support potential suicide victims).
3) Both of the above ;-)
Thank-you for taking the time to read/share/donate. It means a lot and can hopefully make a difference.
