The ability to get around is vital in order to live a full life yet thousands of people with sight loss never leave home alone. We empower visually impaired people to do that and rely on the support of the public to fund the guide dog service.

Story

Hello, friend!

You may know I do a bit of running. You may also know I love dogs so I have decided to combine the two in order to help those who are blind or visually impaired by running the Dublin marathon on October 26th 2015 for Guide Dogs N.I.

There are 109 Guide Dog owners in Northern Ireland & around 45 puppies & dogs in training at any one time.

Each Guide Dog costs £50,000 for its lifetime but obviously the independence it gives to a person who is blind or visually impaired is priceless. Guide Dog owners only have to pay 50p for their dog, Guide Dogs cover all other costs, purely relying on public donations.
