After successfully completing the Edinburgh Men's 10k last year I've decided I should run it again (hopefully with a better time) for the same great cause.

Fact 1 - Mesothelioma is 100% a killer, NO ONE SURVIVES.

Fact 2 - Mesothelioma is totally preventable.

Fact 3 - 1000's of people are walking around with it right now.

Fact 4 - Sufferers incubate the disease for 35-40 YEARS!

It took my Father in Law in just 6 months after he worked for the NHS from 1969-1977 in Yorkshire as an Engineer. He was supervising the removal of asbestos in the boiler rooms. Even though the maintenance men that were actually removing the Asbestos had paper masks to wear Father in Law had nothing! In 1968 the Hospital Trust wrote their own risk assessment policy on Asbestos - None of the procedures were known about by the work force so they weren't adhered to.

As a result 5 Engineers (including my father in law) and 1 cleaner that all worked together have died of asbestosis or mesothelioma. He died the day after his 73rd birthday, he was my son's hero. His body had withered away losing 7 stone in less than 6 months. We barely recognised him he was so frail.

He was an engineer to the end, always helping people fix things. He loved to watch war documentaries and films, loved a problem to solve and fiddling around with his motorbikes and now he's gone. At the end I don't think he could even accept that he was dying as it attacks the body so fast. Please help me create awareness and money for the charity to help others, even though we can't help him anymore we can build his legacy.Thank you!
