The Pumping Marvellous Foundation is a charity for which my friend Jamie Wilding was ambassador and patient educator.

Jamie was very passionate about the Pumping Marvellous Foundation and raised money through events including climbing over the roof of O2, virtual cycling challenges including the inca trail and grand canyon and also completing 2k in which he raised £1,000. He worked to increase awareness of heart failure and inspired many people living with heart failure as well as everyone else around him. This charity helped him when he needed it and I want to give something back to them for that so they can help more heart failure patients. Jamie achieved so many things but was very proud to work with Pumping Marvellous increasing awareness of the condition.

I am hoping to raise money just as Jamie did. In the last 18 months I have gone from non runner to couch to 5k and now into having a charity place for pumping marvellous. If I can take just a fraction of his determination and commitment I will complete 26.2 miles! 

Just after Jamie’s funeral I wanted to do something to raise money and saw a tweet on twitter asking for people interested in running the marathon. I emailed and then thought no more of the marathon until the beginning of Feb when I received an email saying I had been chosen to run for them!

The core activities and strategy of the Pumping Marvellous Foundation are driven by the needs of heart failure patients, carers and family communities we serve. We get to the real crux of the problems, the problems that patients tell us they have. Our communities are large and we have superb interactions with them, we run the largest Facebook page dedicated to Heart Failure globally so we fully understand the needs and challenges they face. We develop and distribute patient information to the vast majority of NHS Heart Failure Teams in the UK.
