My objective is to walk from  " Lands End to John O' Groats " un supported, carrying all my gear, avoiding roads , tarmac and car fumes where ever possible .i.e walking and navigating the footpaths of England Wales and Scotland, across the countryside, moors, bogs, mountains and whatever - approx 1,250 miles ( 2000km )

The walk will take eighty four days non stop.

I am a sixty one year old retired Chartered Surveyor, and have been married for thirty three years to Frankie.

I have had a quadruple heart bypass,suffer from chronic post operative back pain, made worse carrying a rucksack, and await dental surgery,which means I have to walk with a headache.

That's the sympathy vote over !!

I hadn't intended to do this walk for charity, it is something I have personally wanted to achieve for a long time.

I do not approve of people asking for money from others to fulfill their ambitions.

I have set up this page because I have been asked by so many

               "are you doing the walk for charity ? "

so it would be nice to help a good cause if I can.

I will not judge you at all, should you decide to donate or not, but it will give me encouragement in the despairing moments if you do.

My chosen charity is :

                             " Chelmsford Cats Protection "

Why :

Because I like cats ( and dogs ), it's a local charity to me, in which I take an interest,supported by hard working volunteers ,who give up their own free time, because they care.

Many people only think of supporting the major charities , with their huge budgets,salaries and expenses.

They forget about the desperate hungry sick animals closer to home, suffering animals on street corners and backs of supermarkets, overlooked by busy people rushing by at the end of their days work.

If you would like to offer your support too, that will make me feel very proud, humbled , and encourage me to put one foot in front of another.
