We campaign, support and fund research to stop people dying of bowel cancer

Story

Hi everyone

Given that I had to pull out of the Royal Parks Half Marathon this year, I've decided to do something different and walk 50km as quickly as I can. Luckily I have my best friend / sister at my side. We're fairly competitive so it should be interesting!

The walk takes place almost exactly 2 years since we lost mum to bowel cancer. It's a dreadful disease, a death from which is incredibly painful to witness but it shouldn't have to be the end. Unfortunately when mum was diagnosed it was already terminal but if caught early, it can be one of the easiest cancers to treat. Bowel Cancer UK are desperately trying to raise awareness of symptoms so that more and more people who are diagnosed can be luckier than mum.

Many of you sponsored me last year when I ran the Royal Parks Half Marathon for the same charity (I loved every minute - except the 11 mile mark when my jelly babies congealed in my shorts pocket) and a couple of years earlier when I walked from London to Brighton. I am so grateful for the ongoing support I receive with fundraising. You know who you all are. If you are able to dig deep and sponsor me for this effort I will, as ever, be eternally grateful.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails.
