My Mum’s story and why I’m fundraising:
My Mum is the strongest, bravest, most selfless and kindest person I know and I often feel like I don’t deserve her, every day I feel incredibly lucky and privileged to have her in my life. My Mum suffers from Crohn’s Disease and has bravely struggled through with it my whole life. I’m so in awe of her bravery and the strength she shows everyday and it is so heartbreaking knowing she’s struggling and suffering everyday with this disease. Living with Crohn’s Disease makes her life unpredictable, painful and challenging. There is no known cure and I want to be able to help keep her as strong and healthy as possible for as long as possible and as my Mum never makes anything about herself and is always there for others it’s time I do something for her! So, on 11th September 2021 I will be taking part in running the Thames Path Quarter Challenge (28km) to raise money for Crohn’s and Colitis UK. The money raised will go towards cure research and helping thousands of affected suffers and families.
My charity:
I am fundraising for Crohn’s and Colitis UK, a fantastic and vital charity that raise awareness and funds for people with Crohn’s and Colitis, call for more workplace support and campaign for better IBD care across the UK. Together, we can create a world where everyone living with Crohn’s and Colitis feels understood and supported to live their best life. The charity has helped my Mum, and our family, in times of doubt and helps thousands across the UK. Take a look at crohnsandcolitis.org.uk to see the amazing things this charity is doing to help those suffering with Crohn’s and Colitis.
A bit about Crohn’s Disease:
It is a condition that causes inflammation of the digestive system (also known as the gastrointestinal tract or gut). Inflammation is the body’s reaction to injury or irritation, and can cause redness, swelling and pain.
