For Emma.

Last year my best friend, the mother of to two beautiful girls and wife to wonderful Mike was taken from us all too shortly by a hard-fought battle with aggressive breast cancer.

This August my friends and I are taking part in the Three Peaks Challenge after she expressed her hope to complete this once she was cancer free. Sadly this wasn't to be and she passed away last October.

Emma was an inspiration to us all and kept her dignity, optimism and love throughout her battle with cancer.

Throughout the treatment, Emma was cared for by the amazing Macmillan nurses. You could see difference they made to Emma and her family. They gave her love and support and treated all of us like friends. These nurses are truly amazing and many of us have been touched by their kindness and hard work. A group of 12 of us will set off for Scotland on the 26th August, we will start climbing Ben Nevis at 5pm on the 26th August, upon completion we will drive to Scarfell Pike - we shall start climbing that at 5am on the 27th August. We will then head down to Snowdon - we shall climb that and finish at 5pm on Sunday the 27th August. The aim is 3 peaks in 24 hours.

This challenge seems fitting - this will not be an easy walk in the park. There will be hours of training, weeks of walking before the event to ensure that we can complete it within the time limit. I hope that you will be super generous with your donations - this is a great cause. Many of you have friends/relatives who have had their own battles with cancer. Macmillan provides support for sufferers - they advise on financial matters, provide emotional support and down to earth, practical advice about living with cancer.
