St Catherine's Hospice Skydive · 20 August 2016 ·

We’re there for people in Sussex and East Surrey, with expert hospice care, when and where they need us most. Our care is only possible thanks to the generosity of our local community who donate to and volunteer with us. Community support means we’re there when life comes full circle.

Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.  I am taking on the challenge of a sponsored Skydive  on 20th August for St Catherine's Hospice for two main reasons;

(DUE TO WEATHER CONDITIONS SKYDIVE WAS POSTPONED & WILL NOW BE ON 24 SEPTEMBER).

1. The Hospice!

I work in the fundraising department at St Catherine's and it really is an inspiring hospice where we provide specialised end of life care and support to local people, their families, friends and carers living in Crawley, Horsham, Mid Sussex and East Surrey. Every day St Catherine’s needs to raise over £17,000 in voluntary donations to provide that care and support for people with a terminal illness and their families.  As well as this, we help create special moments for our patients and their families and friends.  In the last year alone, six weddings and many birthday parties were held at the hospice along with choirs, musicians and artists who come in to visit everyone and so much more!  Without help from people like you, St Catherine's wouldn't be able to offer the vital services we do.  It really does make a difference to our patients and their families and friends at a time when they need it most and I have been privileged enough to witness this.

2. Me!

I have been a professional fundraiser for over three years now and not actually done any of my own fundraising during that time.  Shocking! Given that my job is to encourage and support many others in the community to fundraise, it really is about time I did some myself.  So I am doing this for a charity I feel passionate about and I am lucky enough to work for.  It is also a personal challenge which I have considered doing for many years and is definitely going to push me outside of my comfort zone.  But that's a good thing!  Although it won't require months of training, it will require steely determination to make me jump out of the plane as I can promise you I will be terrified!  I hope that is enough to prompt you to sponsor me to complete the skydive and achieve something for myself and the hospice.  Thank you!
