Story
I had only met my boyfriend's mother once before she died of a rare form of lung cancer, called mesothelioma. Diagnosed in October of 2013, Janet Blunt passed away just three months later in January 2014. Even though she was already suffering from the disease, she and the rest of the family welcomed me into their home without hesitation. From the one interaction I had with Janet, and the wonderful stories I have been told since her passing (a testament to her family's love and memory), I learned that Janet was a loving wife and mother, a brilliant general practitioner, and generally headstrong and caring person that always put her family first.
In memory of Janet Blunt, therefore, and in order to spread awareness about mesothelioma and raise money for the charities that helped Janet through her illness, my wonderful boyfriend, Richard and I are going to run from London to Solihull on 30 January 2016. Over 2 or 3 days, we will cover 145.61 miles, running mostly along the Grand Union Canal from the London Flat to the Family home.
Richard will raise money for Mesothelioma UK, and I will do the same for Marie Curie.
I hope that you choose to donate to help these wonderful charities. Big or small, every donation will help the charities that care for those currently battling mesothelioma or another illness.
Thank you,
Emily
