Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.
One of our twin daughters, Eva Rose, was born prematurely, at 23 weeks. She weighed less than 1lb and was taken to the Special Care Baby Unit of Newcastle's Royal Victoria Infirmary for help with breathing.
Despite the efforts of a wonderful neonatal team, Eva was just too tiny to survive and left us after just eight hours.
We were able to spend precious time with Eva thanks to the support Tiny Lives provides to the SCBU. They help in many ways, including funding specialist equipment and training for staff, research into better ways of caring for premature babies, family support, and so much more. We are incredibly grateful to all the staff on SCBU who looked after our family so caringly, and would like to try and fundraise so other babies and families can benefit, too.
Luckily for us, our fetal medicine consultant at the RVI was also wonderful - our remaining twin Chloe remained safely inside until she was delivered at 36 weeks - small but in perfect health.
We are taking part in a few different events, and family members are joining us, too:
~Laura's sister Nicola is starting it all with the Derby Ramathon (a half marathon) on 4th June.
~Steve's sister Jen and her friend Becca are becoming first-time triathletes at the Roundhay Park Go-Tri on 10th June.
~Laura and our son Ben are taking part in the Great North Family Run on 9th July.
~Steve, Jen and Nicola are doing the Great North Run (also a half marathon) in September.
We'll add other events as they occur!
Thanks for taking the time to read this, and I hope you are able to support us.
