Story
Thank you so much to everyone who sponsored me for Nightrider 2013. I completed the 104km (!) in 5 hours 6 minutes and had a thoroughly enjoyable time. I met lots of lovely people at the event, including brave souls who completed the route on tandems!
Money raised from this challenge will go to Blind Veterans UK who give blind veterans access to the finest quality of services to help them discover life beyond sight loss. This includes providing lifelong welfare support, rehabilitation, training, long-term nursing, residential and respite care from three centres across the UK (Llandudno, Sheffield and Brighton). I have had the honour to work alongside this charity when helping prepare soldiers injured from tours in Afghanistan to immerse back into civilian life.
Blind veterans don't just have to go to the centres to receive support. Your donations will note only help fund the centres but could also provide visually impaired soldiers with items such as computer software that will help them see the information on the screen better and thus increase their opportunities for employment in areas of the job market that would otherwise be inaccessible.
