We are Julie and Adele Ottilie-Jones from Trebanos, Swansea.

In September 2015 we walked part of the Camino de Santiago Compostela in Northern Spain, more commonly known as ‘The Way of St James'. We covered a distance of 162miles across a wide range of terrain, including mountains and hillside tracks and through small villages and towns to raise money for the NSPCC & WaterAid in memory of our beloved Fletcher, and to say “thank you” to Myra Stevenson of Vale Vets, Dursley, Gloucester, for being an amazing vet and Fletcher’s friend (NSPCC & WaterAid were her two chosen charities).
This year we are returning to walk the whole of “The Way” which is 780 kms/500 miles. We will be starting from St Jean-Pied-du-Port in France, walking over the Pyrenees in to Northern Spain and on to Santiago Compostela. We will  be walking independently and not part of an organised tour, and hope to make many new friends along the way, as we will be walking for 37 days, sometimes covering over 20 miles a day; starting on 11th September and walking into Santiago on  18th October.  This time we will be raising money for Llys Nini through donations and sponsorship.

Why The Way of Saint James?
The Way of St. James was one of the most important Christian pilgrimages during the Middle Ages, together with those to Rome and Jerusalem. Legend holds that St. James's remains were carried by boat from Jerusalem to
northern Spain, where he was buried in what is now the city of Santiago de Compostela. Each year Christian pilgrims and many others set out to make their way to Santiago de Compostela.  Most travel by foot, some by bicycle and a few travel on horseback or by donkey. “Modern pilgrims” choose to walk the route for other reasons, and many consider the experience a spiritual adventure to remove themselves from the bustle of modern life. It also serves as a retreat for many “modern pilgrims". Our journey ends in Santiago de Compostela to attend the Pilgrims Mass in the cathedral.
