I will be raising money this October for Grief Encounter by running the Paris Marathon. I am also running this marathon in memory of Rebecca Robb, hence why I have chosen this charity.

Rebecca Robb was the mother of my one of my closest friends Buzz, and a motherly figure to many of the boys in my friendship group. She was a creative, caring and brilliant woman with a monumental appetite for life; she always strived to improve the lives of those around her, and to help those that she knew to achieve their full potential. 

As a school teacher in creative arts and cooking, Rebecca loved to inspire young children to get in touch with their creative side and to explore new endeavours that could richly enhance their lives. She was a bright light and a great example of the positive impact that care, compassion and a belief can have on a young persons future. Rebecca sadly died in May 2021 after a battle with cancer, leaving behind her husband and two wonderful sons. 

Grief encounter exists to support bereaved children and young people through loss. One child in every UK classroom will experience the death of someone close by the time they reach 16 years old. Grief Encounter exists to help with the confusion, fear, loneliness and pain, providing a lifeline to children and young people to cope with free, immediate, one-to-one support. They are a wonderful charity, and I would be incredibly grateful to anyone who can donate.
