Story

 Our Phab members work at the shop which massively enriches their lives, friendships our made, a belonging, experience. Phab has been linking up with Wirral Met, who have just been assessing our phabbers for retail qualifications.

Our Phab team is doing tough mudder in September to raise money for Phab.

 This is a crazy challenge for all of us, and it's going to take some serious training to be able to complete the half marathon(ish) in length course and it's 20 odd challenging obstacles! Including barbed wire, ice cold water challenges, not to forget the small matter of electrocution and lots more mud based challenges!

A decision not taken lightly! But when considering doing the challenge for I am Phab (Bebington)

http://iam.phab.org.uk

and given the opportunity to support the fab work they do, made making the final commitment to take part much easier!

Thank you for your support & donation.

Wish us luck, and let the training & hard work begin!

A little bit about the amazing work fab do:

“I AM PHAB” Bebington group is an amazing unique funky club, who is affiliated with the PHAB National Charity run by Greg & Lorna Howell, our amazing committee & Ella Riley.

“I AM PHAB” Bebington group was recently created from the original West Kirby PHAB which was run by the truly wonderful “Alan Martin” who sadly passed away December 2012.

Out of respect for Alan ” I AM PHAB” was born, we grew, need to move to a bigger building and our membership grew to 90 plus. Through the kindness of ‘Wirral borough Council’

we found our a new home in Mayer Hall (Bebington). We then grew some more and moved to Highcroft Day centre in Bebington.

Alan’s dream like PHAB’s was to ‘end social isolation for everyone – able & less able’. “I AM PHAB” Bebington does this by creating friendships, generating smiles

and making fun weekly nights. “I AM PHAB” work with Merseycare travel to pick up their members from there homes and take them back home.

“I AM PHAB” runs every Wednesday 6.30pm to 8.30pm, we provide live music, Zumba, Quiz nights, Parties, Discos, Murder Mystery Nights, Zumba, Magic & even Taekwondo !!

So lets explain what else PHAB does;

Phab creates opportunities for children and adults of all abilities to enjoy life together by;

Supporting a network of around 180 clubs throughout England and Wales for all age-ranges.
Offering activities and holidays which members can share and enjoy together.
Promoting and encouraging self-confidence and independence in young people of all abilities through a range of diverse projects.
Funding special residential breaks – inclusive experiences for disabled and non-disabled children and young people to share in a full range of adventurous outdoor activities at fully accessible activity centres offering specialist tuition.
Providing specially equipped and fully accessible holiday units at an award-winning beach site in Dorset at affordable weekly rates.
Organising national and regional events for Phab club members and supporters to enjoy together and to promote the Phab philosophy of inclusion
All in all a pretty amazing organisation, don’t you think and one in which we are so proud to be involved with!
