Fundraising for Great North Air Ambulance Service

On Saturday 16th June 2018 the Great North Air Ambulance Service were called to assist the paramedics for Christopher Economides aged 44, from Biddick Woods. The skill of the ambulance and GNAAS crew was fantastic and against all odds they were able to restore a heart beat. This meant that, although Chris’ outcome was not to be the one his family and friends prayed for, Chris was able to donate his organs, which ultimately saved the lives of 2 people.
The Great North Air Ambulance Service operates three helicopters, 365 days a year, across the North-East, North Yorkshire and Cumbria. GNAAS crews respond to around 1,000 call outs each year and on board their aircraft are specialist trauma doctors and paramedics, who bring accident and emergency expertise to the scene. The helicopters are never more than a 15-minute flight from the nearest hospital.
Chris was an incredible husband to his amazing wife Anita and a totally devoted father to their 3 boys Cameron, Dion and Theo. Chris was a loving uncle to all of his nieces and nephews. He was a loyal son, brother, brother in law and a best friend who was respected and loved by so many people. He was truly admired by all who met him for his entrepreneurial spirit, his positive outlook on life and his warmth of character. Chris was a kind, caring man who would always put others before himself. Because of this, it is his family’s wishes that instead of sending flowers, they would appreciate it if people could make a donation to this fantastic service, which relies solely on charitable funding.
