We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Last year I walked 10 miles in aid of the Alzheimer's Society. For 2012, I'm taking on the Gold Challenge, to cover 2012km before New Year's Eve. Which means fitting in 5.5km every day.

Most of you will know I am more likely to fit 5 cakes in every day than 5km, so it will be a challenge, but one that I hope benefits my waistline, my health and the coffers of the charity.

I know times are tough for all, which means charities need our cash more than ever. Whatever you can donate, however little, all adds up, and can help to continue to fund this vital research.

Thanks to those who have already very generously donated to the cause, I had the once in a lifetime opportunity to represent the Alzheimer's Society at the Gold Challenge Event at the Olympic Stadium on 1 April 2012. It also meant I got to run the 100m on the Olympic track, which was an incredible experience. I felt very proud, very humbled and very slow, but delighted to have done it, thanks to everyone's generosity to date.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

Many thanks!
