Story

The Heart of Anarchy Story

17th November 2017 will mark ten years since we lost Andre to an undetected artery condition which resulted in his heart failing.

“My brother Andre and I shared a passion for punk music. In fact he introduced me to it all those years ago, and many a raucous night was had at various gigs up and down the country celebrating our love of it.
He was my big brother- my idol from childhood- and we were as close as two brothers could be. Best friends. Until his sudden and unexpected death in November 2007 from undiagnosed Atherrosclerosis - a condition of the heart which causes the arteries to harden and cease to function.”

Back in the good old days of the 1980s Andre took his little brother Raph out for the day to see a band. That band was The Damned and little Raph came back with one Dr Marten and a passion for punk, something he has always been truly grateful to his big brother for ever since.
Andre had passion for life, music and his family; He was well loved in all of his social circles and is greatly missed by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Apart from being Raph's older brother he was also his best friend and mentor. He always strived to make sure Raph was safe and well and truly kept him on the straight and narrow. Since we lost him we have always tried to do everything we can to keep the spirit of such a great guy alive...

...Which is why back in 2015 we got the idea of throwing a bit of a Punk party to try and raise just a few quid to put in the British Heart Foundation pot. We had 3 local bands volunteer to play, a box full of records and a bar full of cans. Local punks turned up in their droves and helped us to raise a big fat £500 wedge for charity. We had such a great time we did it again the next year! This time we had EIGHT bands volunteer to play, a pub to play in and a whole load MORE punks! 2016s event made around £1500 for the British Heart Foundation and we all had an amazing night remembering Andre.

With 2017 marking the 10th anniversary of Andre’s death we wanted to pull out all the stops and really go for it. The Grapes in Hereford have kindly allowed us to take over the entire pub for the day and arranged a hearty donation from a national brewery to boot. We’ve had auction donations from local and not-so-local artists, bands, punks, shops and more besides. This year we have TEN bands who have stepped forward to offer their time and talents for free to raise awareness of heart disease and funds for research.

We hope you can join us, it’s going to be a blast.
