What started out as a school project with Malvern Parish School, litter picking is something that Hollie enjoys doing because she wants to look after our planet.  We had a chat about the good work that she has done and we thought what a great opportunity to also do a bit of fund raising for our favourite charity Acorns Children's Hospice.

Acorns provide babies, children and young people aged 0-18 years who have life limiting or life threatening conditions and associated complex needs with a network of specialist palliative nursing care and support.

It is a holistic service which meets the needs of both the children and their families, including the bereaved.  This includes short break provision, emergency and end of life care, therapeutic and psychosocial support, sibling services and family support.  In the past year they have supported 787 children and 1223 family members across the organisation, including those who have been bereaved.

There are three hospices which cost around £11 million a year to run their vital care services, that is £27,000 per day!

The costs involved are significant and they rely heavily on donations with 65% of their funding in the past year coming from the local community.

Starting on Monday 10th May 2021 Hollie will carry out 10 litter picks around Malvern which she will complete by Sunday 23rd May 2021.
