My close friend Tim Read and I have resolved to WALK the 192 mile Wainwright Coast to Coast Trail in July. 

Tim's son, Euan, died of meningitis 20 years ago and to mark this anniversary, Tim and I are both undertaking this 16 day trek over England's most hilly regions to raise funds for Meningitis Research Foundation. 

Euan was a superfit young man of 26 with everything going for him; a wonderful young family and fulfilling work as a talented entertainer.  In 1994 he contracted meningitis and died within 3 days, leaving a young pregnant widow and a 2 year old daughter.  The whole family was devastated.

Euan and Tim did a lot of mountain walking together so this challenge is a highly appropriate way to commemorate this special anniversary.
