Story
On 1st April 2014 myself and Dan lost our daughter, and Blake lost his sister Isabelle when she was stillborn at just 28 weeks.
During my pregnancy we experienced problems and were constantly told that as we'd passed the 12 week point there was nothing that could go wrong and the chances of something going wrong were so remote that it was something that was never discussed further. We went along to our 20 week scan and were told that we had a perfect little daughter on her way and there were no problems or issues that could be detected. We were obviously then even more excited and started to prepare for our little girl.
However on the 29th March 2014 our worlds fell apart as our worst fears were realised when we were told that our precious daughter had become a beautiful angel. Everything since then has been a blur.
We are obviously devastated and our lives have changed forever, however we would like something positive to come from our horrendous experience and help others that find themselves in our situation and to ensure that research continues to help prevent this from occurring to families in the future.
Since this has happened to us, it is unbelievable how often this occurs
and how many people us and our family know that have been affected by it. It is for this reason that we feel Isabelle can help others.
We are planning to organise fundraising events in the future but for the moment we are asking for any donations that people feel they want to make to get us started.
We are starting by asking for donations for The Stillbirth and Neonatal Death Charity (Sands) instead of flowers for Isabelle's funeral.
Sands are a charity that support anyone who has been affected by the death of a baby. They also fund research into why this occurs. They have been very helpful to us since Isabelle was born, and without the information they provide we not have thought to do a lot of things with our daughter that we have done which we would later regret if we hadn't.
We had two days at home after we were told our devastating news before Isabelle was born and the only assistance we had then and have had since has been from Sands.
If you would like to read more about this charity, or have been affected by stillbirth or neonatal death, the Sands website is www.uk-sands.org.
Thank you so much for reading our story and for your donation.
