Story
40 years ago I deployed to the Falklands with 5 Flt, 2 Para Battle Gp. Sadly, in those 40 years too many other young service personnel have followed that path to different conflicts, many didn’t come home.
On the 14th June I will be on parade at The National Arboretum . 4 days later I will be attempting to complete the Jersey Round Island Walk in memory of friends and comrades who fell during the Falklands conflict, more than that number who have taken their own lives since and those sadly no longer with us.
At 48 miles it is only just shy of the great yomp from San Carlos to the battlefields around Stanley.
We make our decision to serve. Our spouses sign up when they marry us; for better or for worse. But it’s often our children who are left to suffer most.
So whilst I honour The Fallen I aim to raise money for their children through Scotty’s Little Soldiers, the charity for bereaved British Forces children.
If you’re happy to help, thank you and pass this on to #HelpTheirChildrenSmile
