I am taking part in this forty mile cycle ride to raise money for The Hospice In The Weald who looked after my wonderful son Richard during the last months of his life.

Richard and indeed the whole family were cared for by the nurses, domestic staff and all the amazing volunteers at the Hospice. The peaceful yet uplifting environment removed some of the stresses during a very difficult period in our lives and allowed us to make the most of our time together.

The challenge I have set myself is to go from couch to forty miles in seven weeks, the knock on from that is that I have given up smoking after thirty years and have gone on a diet. Anyone who knows how much I love my chocolate, my cigars and my couch will understand what a huge undertaking this is for me.
