We help young people to 'sea beyond their horizon'.

Story

Jamie or 'Papa' to his girls, was man of heart, kindness, intellect and honour. With family at his core, he is remembered warmly as the beloved father to Thalia, Arabella, Maya and Tess; Grandfather to Élodie Grace and Aria Rose; dearest friend to Susie;  Brother to Robin, Therese and Peter; cherished Uncle, Father in law and treasured friend to many. He is fondly remembered by his friends from the Oratory School, from the Bath Fringe and by the many he assisted in legal matters. In latter years, Jamie found joy, community and friendship through a love of beekeeping and honey, marmalade production to compliment his sourdough loaves and the fruits and labour of his beautiful garden, which were shared far and wide with friends and family. Jamie enjoyed his friends across the globe, South Africa, California, France, Slovakia and Italy to name a few. We will miss you and your overflowing generosity of life, honey, party poppers and marmalade but we remember you well and honour your legacy of love and kindness forever.

Jamie supported the Tall Ships and all of his daughters, his brother and Jamie himself enjoyed sailing with the Tall Ships Association. He had long supported the charity who seek to send youths from challenging backgrounds on Tall Ship voyages. The feedback from those lucky enough to engage with the charity is always that it was the most amazing experience, a way of learning new skills and about themselves. The charity gives a unique opportunity for confidence building, life skill acquisition, inclusivity, hard graft and motivation but predominantly fun, respect and kindness, all the values Pa held dear.

Tall Ships Youth Trust is the UK’s oldest and largest youth development sail training charity. With a focus on helping young people from disadvantaged backgrounds, their mission is to enable them to fulfill their life potential through experiences at sea and by breaking down the barriers they face. Please support this charity, a fund has been set up and as a family we will help provide the opportunity for teens and young adults to experience Tall Ship voyages, who may otherwise not be able to afford this extraordinary adventure.

For a moment, I lost myself – actually lost my life. I was set
free. I dissolved in the sea, became white sails and flying spray, became beauty and rhythm, became moonlight and the ship and the high dim-starred sky.
