Story

Walking the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge | Tuesday 23rd April 2019

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Having recently undergone lifestyle changes that have helped me avoid falling over the Type II Diabetes cliff, I'm completing the Yorkshire Three Peaks challenge to prove to myself that I can do it quicker and with a better recovery rate than my pre-weight loss attempt - in other words; quicker than 15 hours and a day off work to recover! It's a 'rite-of-passage' thing for me.

I'm confidently aiming for a 9.5 hour completion time which is a real challenge as most people aim for the 12 hour mark.

Given my reasons, I'm using the opportunity to raise funds for Diabetes UK  A charity that works towards eradicating the condition and supporting people who suffer from both Type I and Type II versions of the disease. It's a cause close to the hearts of many people I know, so please give generously.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge.

The Yorkshire Three Peaks route is 24 miles (38.6km), and includes 1585m (5200ft) of ascent.

The challenge takes on the peaks of Pen-y-ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, usually in this order although I'll be walking it in reverse order.

The three peaks form part of the Pennine range, and encircle the head of the valley of the River Ribble, in the Yorkshire Dales National Park.
