Hello I'm Jemma, and welcome to my page! This is Chester's Story.

Chester is my 1 year old son who has four chronic/life long and severe heart conditions. These are: Tricuspid Atresia, Hypoplastic Right Heart Syndrome, Pulmonary Stenosis, and Ventricular Septal Defect. We were sadly diagnosed with these conditions at 21 weeks gestation, before he had even made it into the world. This devastating news came with so many set backs, unanswered questions, and continuous fear and anxiety of the unknown. There was no telling how Chester would cope on the outside, how severe his conditions were going to be, or even if he would survive for long.

Chester made it safely into the world on 8th April 2024. He was immediately taken to NICU and put on life saving medications before being transferred to his new temporary home at Great Ormond Street Hospital at just 5 days old. Our time spent at GOSH was definirely one we will never forget! The cardiac surgeons at GOSH have provided Chester with their incredible expertise and have performed two open heart surgeries on him before he turned 5 months old! We cannot thank these incredible doctors and nurses enough for their efforts in saving our baby's life.

Chester continues to face daily struggles as his conditions are life-limiting however, he continues to thrive in the best way that he possibly can! He will have to undergo another open heart surgery and potentially another procedure for him to continue living his life to the best of his abilities.

The GOSH Charity means the absolute world to us. We met some incredible patients and their families during our stays at GOSH, and it has certainly opened my eyes to what these incredible children have to go through day in and day out. I am in absolute awe of them all.
