We fund research, provide support, campaign to bring more than hope to those affected.
Story
In August 2009 our Mum was diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer, she battled against it for over 4 years but sadly lost her fight in November 2013. More information about her life and battle please read around this page http://judith.atkins.muchloved.com/ and also http://judith.atkins.muchloved.com.
Pancreatic Cancer has a 5 year survival rate of just 4%, a figure that has hardly changed in the last 40 years. Despite this it receives just 1% of cancer research spend. Pancreatic Cancer UK have two aims, firstly to double the 5 year survival rate within 5 years, and secondly to move the NHS experience of pancreatic cancer patients from being one of the worst to one of the best.
Our first fundraising challenge in memory of Mum will be the Hastings Half Marathon. Nick, Jen, and Cat will be taking on the 13 mile route on 23rd March 2014. None of us have ever run this far, and our backgrounds in hockey and martial arts won't help very much! The training has already started, and we are all aiming to finish rather than set time goals!
Anything you can afford to donate is greatly appreciated, and if you can also share any of the links below on facebook/twitter/email then you can help raise awareness of this terrible cancer.
It’s unacceptable that more than half of people diagnosed with the deadliest common cancer die within three months.
That’s why they need and deserve more. More research, more funding, more breakthroughs. More than hope. Together we’ll make that possible.
