Story

MILLIE'S MOUNTAIN MADNESS IS 6 MOUNTAINS 3 DAYS 1 CHARITY

My daughter Amelia (Millie) has received a wealth of support and help from the
gifted and caring people who together through their dedication make Ryedale
Special Families the fantastic organization it is for almost all her life,
Their impact on her personal development is immeasurable, without their expert
advice, guidance and tireless efforts to provide entertainment, education,
respite and family oriented social events Amelia would not have had half
the life she has enjoyed to date.  On a personal level much of the
worry and stress of being a parent to a child with special needs has been
relieved simply by knowing help and advice is always available.

I've known for some while now that it's high time I gave something
back as thanks for their extraordinary efforts, so with the excellent
company, infectious humour, encouragement and support of my partner
Niki we have committed ourselves to summit on foot 6 UK peaks over 3
days.

Between 30th June-2nd July 2017 we will ascend a total of 4486 metres and this
has become our target figure for pounds raised.

Day One will begin in Wales with the ascent of Snowdon via The Pyg Track, then
a drive to Scafell Pike in the English lake district where we will follow the
Wasdale Head route to the summit.

Day Two will see us complete the Yorkshire three peaks walk taking in the
summits of Pen Y Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough.

Day Three is Scotlands formidable Ben Nevis, perhaps the hardest of the bunch,
every single step is a step upwards, but also incredibly satisfying...
Niki has made the additional pledge to complete Ben Nevis without trying to
break the mountain with her face this time so I'll be donating extra if she
manages that ;-)

Wewould love to have friends and family join us for some sections of our challenge,
Scafell Pike and Ben Nevis are the two where we could enjoy the mountain walk
with others without extra time pressures on our tight schedule so if
anyone wishes to join us they are very welcome, although I must stress you will
need to make your own travel and accommodation arrangements and be suitably
equipped for these serious mountain challenges.

Niki and I have been training on and off since last year in all weathers as it's been our goal to support such a
fantastic cause since Niki came up with the idea whilst walking in 2016. Now
the distractions of the festive period are behind us we are in training mode
once again even in the winter months (bbbrrrr) Please support us as much as
possible in raising awareness of this page to help us achieve our target,
shares and likes on any social media would be greatly appreciated.

Now for the money bit which is what we need, from
individuals and businesses alike, your very greatly appreciated support...... All
we ask is please give generously whatever you can, every single penny and pound
changes so much for these children, if you want to donate your spare change
jars too just let us know and we will either cycle, run or walk to collect them...

Every penny raised will go towards helping children like
Millie with their individual special needs and those of their families too so
they can have access to the same days of enjoyment such as swimming, kayaking and
raft building, quad biking, teepee camping, one to one time, respite, Flamingo
Land, East Barmby and Bewerly Park, "The House" and so much more that
we enjoy.

Ryedale Special Families provide these things every day to
so many, all these things are vital for personal growth, for education and
family togetherness, an opportunity to have fun time away from the pressures of
life.... Millie has come so far in her life thanks to their love, support and understanding
of her needs.

We are not asking for mountains of cash but we are asking
for your generosity and in return we have set ourselves what we believe to be a
suitably formidable challenge, one worthy of your contributions.

We will make frequent updates detailing our training and
our progress throughout the event.
