In memory of Eamon Largey

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In March this year we lost a very special person.  Eamon was a larger than life man who loved life and was loved by many.  In 2011 he was diagnosed with cancer,  This followed only two months after Eamon along with his family lost their daughter/sister Maureen to the same dreaded disease.

During the months Eamon spent fighting the disease I never heard a word of self pity.  He was diginifed, he was strong, he was as brave as anyone Ive ever met.

He was more concerned and worried about his lovely mom and sister than he ever was about himself.  He crammed so much into the last 18 months of his life.  When Eamon's illness overtook him, it was with great reluctance that he went into the John Taylor Hospice for pallative care.  Eamon soon became very popular with the nurses! Mostly because of his sense of humour and his irish charm (something he never lost!)  During his time there we had an early Paddy's Day party and several others!!  The months since Eamon's passing have only served to highlight the gap his absence has left in many peoples lives.

He was an inspiration to everyone who knew him and I know I will never forget "the belfast legend."

Before Eamon was diagnosed we talked about running a marathon together but sadly it was something we didn't manage.

Please give whatever you can.  No amount is too small and no amount is too large!! I cannot wait to cross the finish line and have a large Bailey's with ice!!

About the charity

The League of Friends helps to raise funds, increase awareness of the work of the Hospice and ensure that funds raised are used for the benefit of patients, their families (including children) and carers. Funding changes mean that the Charity must raise a great deal than previously.
