In July I am taking part in a sponsored walk organised by the Bible Society, for 28 miles across North Wales, from Llanfihangel-y-Pennant to Bala, to raise money to provide Bibles in local languages in countries where people cannot buy them or afford them.

 The walk follows in the footsteps of Mary Jones, a 15-year-old girl who made that same walk over 200 years ago to get a copy of the Bible in her native language. The work of the Bible Society was ignited by her story; she saved for years to buy a Bible, and then, in 1800, walked 28 miles to Bala to get her own copy. The work of the Bible Society is now carried out mainly, but not exclusively, overseas.
