Story
I have not done any real competitive sport since University – 28 years ago and then it was skiing, a sport which takes typically not more than 1 ½ minutes at a time.
In those 28 years I estimate I have:
· Spent over 50,000 hours engaged in sedentary occupations (work time, not including TV)
· Smoked over 150,000 cigarettes
· Consumed over 25 million (mainly unhealthy) calories
· Drunk the contents of several pubs
Even when I did ski I hated the fitness aspects, particularly running! On the eve of my 50 birthday, in March 2013 I have decided to set myself a challenge – run 100km (more than 2 marathons back to back) in under 24 hours.
I am asking for your support for this hateful task!
Help me to raise over £10,000 - £100 per km.
If I don’t make the 100km mark I will contribute £1,000. Doesn’t this sound like a sure fire bet against a self confessed slob?
I feel very strongly about The Warrior Programme and the work they do with veterans; helping them to adjust to civilian life and towards a brighter future. I have personally witnessed the amazing changes in not only the individual’s lives but also those of their friends, wives, parents and children.
