Story

Hi guys,

Thank you so much for taking an interest in the page!

At Midnight On the 18th June 2016 I am running The Tromso Midnight Sun Marathon in  Norway with a couple of pals. My cousin from Canada (Adam Hardy) is set to embark on the adventure too, hopefully bringing some donations from the other side of the pond!

I haven't run a full marathon before so thought it would be a mad challenge, Tromsø is pretty mountainous so will be a tough 26 miles.

Those of you that know Catherine, Jenny or I may be aware Catherine and I are currently 'special friends'! As the Spurs have been through so much in recent years loosing a Sister, daughter, granddaughter and friend to bowel cancer. After hearing all about the tragedy, which is incomprehensible for someone like myself, who can't imagine going through such an ordeal. I thought I needed to raise as much money as possible for Macmillan in order for the support given to Jenny and the Spurs family to be replicated for others that are in such desperate need.

Jenny's Mum - Alison

"Our lovely daughter Jenny, aged just 21, was diagnosed with bowel cancer in December 2011. She spent the next 13 months fighting it with very intensive chemotherapy, an operation and then more chemotherapy. She sadly didn't make it and passed away on 13th January 2013. Throughout this very traumatic time she was cared for by a terrific Macmillan nurse who was there for us all as a family, who listened to our hopes and fears, offered us comfort and support and lots of hugs and Jenny felt very much cared for through those tough times especially towards the end."

Jenny's Sister - Catherine

"This year is particularly important to me as I turn the age that Jenny was when she was first diagnosed. It has made me realise even more how strong she must have been. University is a struggle enough by itself, but to put what she was going through on top and still see her complete her degree with a 2:1 and pass her driving test (first time!) is all a mystery to me. Giving aid to Macmillan nurses is a great cause and I know they were always there to support my family and I, as well as Jenny. I am grateful to have Josh and am very appreciative of him running for someone who meant so much to me."

"I am also partaking in the TOUGH MUDDER HALF in Whistler, CANADA this June too in memory of Jenny."

Finally please dig deep and give as much as you can!! 1 in 3 get cancer... unfortunately you don't know if you or a loved one will need the support of Macmillan. Make the difference.

Thanking you,

Josh
