Story
In 1987, when St Oswald's had not long opened its doors, my brother Alan was offered a room. We were grateful for, and touched by, the professionalism and kindness of the staff and recognised straightaway that this was a very special place. Alan died in St Oswald's when he was 38 years old and we will be forever grateful for the care and love he was given in his last few weeks and days.
Alan's family and friends have continued to raise money for the hospice over the years and I hope to add to this by raising at least £120. I'm doing it with Amelia who, though she never met her uncle Alan, is happy and proud to be helping raise money for the hospice in his name.
I know it's not exactly a marathon (maybe next year....) but those who know me well - and even those who know me only a little, let's face it - will hopefully be amazed that I can move at all!
