Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As I'm sure you all know, a year ago on the 28th April I lost my incredibly brave Dad to cancer. For those that know me well, you'll know the battle he fought for 6 years and the broken hearts left behind.
We all know what cancer does to a person but one of the cruellest things it does, is take away any shred of dignity, bit by bit. This was a part I was dreading; watching my 6"4, 65yr old Dad wither away into an old man, in pain and discomfort...........
Then Weldmar Hospice stepped in.
From the moment Dad was in their care, his dignity was restored as was his faith in human kindness. Nothing was too much for them, everything done with compassion and care and as his daughter, this meant more than words can express.
Because of the care received at Weldmar, my gentle Dad slipped away with as much dignity and as little pain as was possible, a comfort that his family will forever be grateful for.
So...... I have put myself forward for the Dorchester half marathon on the 28th May, to raise money for this amazing place. I would love to say this was my idea but Dad asked me to do this a week before he died - no pressure!
Did you know it costs £10,000.00 a day to keep this Hospice running?! Believe me, you cannot put a price on the work that they do.
I am asking you, my family and friends to please donate in memory of my Dad and I promise I'll do my very best to get round the course in one piece - I'm not a natural athlete and most of the time hate every run!
Thank you in advance for any monies raised and thank you to those of you who have supported and continue to support me through my grief.
xx
