Story

We are Katherine's Marchers; a team of family and friends taking on The Marsden March challenge in aid of cancer research, diagnosis, care, and treatment, all in the loving memory of our beloved Katherine Plicio-Keattch who sadly passed away from cancer in November of 2012. Just under a year ago a single diagnosis changed all of our lives forever, and with the shocking statistic that 'every two minutes someone in the UK is diagnosed with cancer', (cancerresearchuk.org) this is a story that is occurring over and over again to countless families everywhere in the world.

We are all affected by cancer, either through knowing someone who has had it, has it, or has died from it.  However, the devastation it causes can be lost on us until it touches a loved one. Since her diagnosis, Katherine's battle with cancer impacted directly on all of us, and her loss has affected us deeply. We now strive as a team to do our bit to help eradicate this destructive disease.

During her treatment, Katherine spent time at both the Chelsea, and Sutton Royal Marsden hospitals. Each one provided the best possible care for her, and every single one of their patients.

Every penny we raise for The Royal Marsden Cancer Charity goes towards: improving fast and accurate diagnosis, world class technology and facilities for cancer treatment, attentive patient care, and continuous research towards new cancer therapies and drug treatments.

Research has already beaten so many other diseases, and as time goes on science will only continue to improve and develop new treatments and therapies. We believe that there will be a cure for cancer; and like those other diseases which required continuous research, it will all be worth it when scientists one day find a way to beat cancer.

It's not a task that can be done by a single person, and this is why every year millions of people take part in fundraising events to help push this process further.

With every step we take on this march, and every penny you help us raise, we are a step closer on the journey to beating cancer.

One day we will beat cancer. Help us bring that day closer.
