Fundraising for Diabetes UK
Story
On the 30th October 2017, we suddenly and very unexpectably lost our beautiful daughter, sister, partner and friend to so many Katie Meager at just 31 years old. There are no words to describe our heartache and no explanation we can give as to why would anyone deny the world such a bright and beautiful light in the darkness. No answer we are given will ever stop us asking why or stop us from missing our darling girl.
Katie was passionate about raising money for charity: from making caramel tarts for Macmillan coffe mornings, to Elvis charity events, to contributing to the hospice that looked after her best friend Lucy and managing events for the clients at the care home she worked for. It is for this reason that we request that no flowers be bought for her funeral, but instead, let’s help Katie raise the most money she ever has by donating to this page for charity. All of the family agrees she would have loved to raise money and help others rather than have a mass of flowers due to her kind and compassionate nature. It would really make her smile.
The charity we have chosen is Diabetes UK. The reason for this is that our sister Jodie has had type 1 Diabetes since she was 11 years old and our Mum, Nan and Katie herself have been affected by type 2 diabetes, therefore, we would like to help as many people as possible who have been affected. This is an illness the whole family really feel strongly about contributing funds towards its’ research and treatment.
Katie’s funeral will be at 2pm on 30th November 2017 at Eltham crematorium, so that time is our fundraising goal. A wake will follow locally which will be confirmed at the funeral. If you are a close friend and wish to attend but need more information, please contact the member of the family you know best.
