Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
When I was asked to do this for Scottish Autism the first thing I asked myself was
"what is autism and how does it affect me"?
The answer was it doesn't affect me, not directly, but I didn't have to look far to find friends and family who were affected.
Like many I am not familiar with spotting the signs and havent had to deal with a diagnosis.
Autism covers a range of conditions that impact on an individuals social communication, interaction, imagination and flexible thinking. Individuals are likely to have sensory and information processing difficulties which are diagnosed from subtle to complex.
Whilst all charity work is important I feel a need to support this one because Autism affects so many of us in a wide range of ways.
This charity supports those diagnosed through their journey of life encouraging confidance, independance and a freedom to fulfill their desires. they provide a service which will stand side by side to ensure the users are fulfilling their potential be it educational, emotional, personal, Scottish Autism is there.
They also support family and carers on an individual basis which I feel is extremly important, like we cannot categorise the needs of someone with autism neither can we categorise the needs of those around them who without the support of the charity and people like myself and you would not be able to lead a life that you and I take for granted.
I am taking part in the zip slide which to some may not seem like a challenge, I am petrified of heights, I can't swim and have no upper body strength so this is a journey in itself for me and I need your encouragment in the way of donations. I'll ask you to give whatever you can, every little really does help. Thank you in advance for showing support to me in my journey which in turn will aid the journeys of adults and children across the country xxx
