Story

Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page and taking the time to read why I have chosen to run the London Marathon & raise money for Brain Tumour Research.

On the 17th February 2017 my dad was told told he had lung cancer, as a family we were devastated, however, we were lucky as the NHS were able to give him treatment at Mount Vernon Hospital and he was in the all clear by the end of the year. So thankful for having his health back, he agreed to do a clinical trial at Mount Vernon. The clinical trial was to try a new medicine that could help prevent cancer from coming back or you would be on a placebo, but you wouldn't know, it was 50/50.

He said regularly that he felt better than he ever had in his life!

Then I witnessed how cruel & unrelenting the disease is, on the 28th June 2018 he was admitted to Wexham Park Hospital as he lost his hearing, they performed tests and discovered that the lung cancer was back but he also had wide spread brain tumours. We were told on the 2nd July 2018 that he would have an average of six weeks left to live. Shortly after the diagnosis he stopped being able to walk and we were told by the Macmillan Nurses that the cancer had also spread to his spine. My dad died on the 9th July 2018 only 7 days after hearing the life changing news.

I am running in honor of my Dad, Steff Jasiewicz and to raise as much money as I can so we can try and stop this disease taking over family's lives likes ours was.
