Story

Hey friends!

We're Lauriane and Hannah, master students (political science) at UCL taking on our first Jailbreak 2017 challenge this weekend 25-27th Feb!

We'll be competing against teams to travel across the world, as far away from UCL campus as possible in 36 hours without spending a penny, all the while completing different challenges (e.g. get a free haircut, kiss a stranger...). Teams to be announced here:

https://ucl.studentjailbreak.co.uk/

Our biggest challenge is to fundraise as much as possible for a charity supporting refugees in finding employment relevant to their skillset and qualifications (Breaking Barriers, see below for what they do!).

We need all the support possible, so we're extremely grateful for any donations or other support, no matter the size, that will contribute to this fantastic cause and help us reach our £100 target!

Thanks for listening!

More on Breaking Barriers:

Breaking Barriers offers a holistic service designed to make sure that refugees can find meaningful employment that is commensurate with their skills, experience and qualifications. By doing so they help refugees' successful settlement in, and integration with, local communities.
In 2013, the UK was home to 120,000 refugees and there are 20,000 new applications every year for refugee status.
Although these refugees have higher levels of education, skills and qualifications than the UK average, an eagerness to work and are mostly of working age, unemployment levels in refugee communities remain above 50%, compared to 6% for the national average.
This is due to a number of refugee-specific barriers that prevent them from finding employment.
You can find more info here on their website: http://www.breaking-barriers.co.uk/

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page, please donate what you can to help us reach our fundraising target and over!
