The Martlets Hospice has teamed up with Wild in Art to stage an extraordinary public art trail in Brighton & Hove. 

We introduce you to Splashhound, The Lawrence Art Shop Snowdog. He stands at a mighty 5ft tall and is black with a plethora of colours splashed onto him. We are the proud sponsor of 'Snowdogs by the Sea 2016', run by the fantastic Martlets Hospice and Wild in Art.

We wanted our design to be a celebration of artistic expression and colour. Splashhound appears to have jumped into a pool of paint. His black coat is covered in an energetic display of vibrant, colourful splashes. He is tactile too with a 3D effect that pops out from the surface.

The majority of staff members at Lawrence have an artistic background and are practising artists. This offered a unique opportunity for us to design our own Snowdog utilising the skills of our creative staff.

Lawrence Art Supplies is a family run business, established in 1859. We are a 157-year-old company with a very colourful history! Currently, 7th and 8th generation Lawrences, Martin Lawrence (MD) and his children Amy and Adam work in the business. We have had a shop in Hove since 1999, after being in both London and Redruth, Cornwall for many years. 

When we heard about the Snowdog by the Sea campaign we knew we had to be involved. It's a very exciting art project for all of Brighton and Hove's community and is a fantastic way to raise money for Martlets Hospice. We're sure that the Snowdogs will inspire everyone to pick up a pen and paintbrush themselves! 

Splashhound is on New Road, Brighton, near the Mash Tun pub and Unitarian Church. 44 other uniquely designed Snowdogs are placed all around Brighton and Hove. The Snowdog trail is now live until November for everyone to walk amongst these art pieces and enjoy them.
