Story
We signed up to do the Wilmslow Half Marathon initially for the challenge, though in the last 6months of training we've endured a lot more than we bargained for! Exposing ourselves to the rain, snow and ice over the winter period, gaining injuries to the knee, feet and calves, and lets not forget the mental strain of early morning starts at the weekend. And no alcohol (Lesley!).
On the back of this we are raising money for East Cheshire Hospice based in Macclesfield, which provides end of life care for terminally ill patients. It relies almost solely on donations, needing £6,000 a day to keep running.
This charity is all the more poignant because Jo's dad, Simon, is receiving specialist end of life care here as a result of a brain tumour, so it seems all the more appropriate to give something back to this amazing charity which we are lucky to have at our doorstep. As a family, we hope to raise £6,000 through various charitable events over the coming months in order to pay to keep the hospice 'open' for one day as a token of our thanks to those who run the charity.
Any donations, no matter how small, make a difference. The run takes place on 25th March at 10.30am in Wilmslow (near the Boddington & Dragon) if you would like to come and support us (we might need it!).
