UPDATE event on 18th March postponed due to snow. Now doing Chester half marathon on Sunday 29th April.

I've created this page because I would love to raise some money to support WIllow Wood Hospice.

Willow Wood is an adult hospice providing specialist palliative care for patients with life limiting illnesses, both cancer and non cancer.

It's free of charge and receives patients from the Tameside and Glossop area. It's approx. 75% funded by the community and requires around £2.3 million a year to maintain its services. Anything we can raise will help. 

My personal reasons, our lovely mum spent a week there in November 2017 after being diagnosed with terminal  lung cancer just a couple of weeks earlier.  She received the very best palliative end of life care there until she sadly passed away, surrounded by loved ones on 15th November.

It was such a heartbreaking, upsetting and distressing time yet we all took some comfort knowing that mum wasn't in pain and was being looked after as she deserved to be. We were also able to spend a precious week by her side, holding hands, telling her we loved her and trying to create some final memories to cherish forever. 

Willow Wood is simply an amazing place and it will always hold a special place in my heart for the care everyone there gave both mum and us. Please, please if you can donate anything, it would be so much appreciated and help them continue to support people at a time when they and their families need it most.

I've been running regular 10k's for just over a year so a half marathon with a time limit is a challenge for me but I chose this one as it's the week after mother's day.
