We provide help and hope to everyone living with dementia.

Story

Alzheimer’s Society is transforming the landscape of dementia forever. Until the day they find a cure, we will create a society where those affected by dementia are supported and accepted, able to live in their community without fear or prejudice.

Alzheimer’s/dementia is a disease very close to me and my family. As I know it is for many others too. Dementia not only affects the person diagnosed, but family and friends also. I know from personal experience, what I found hardest was feeling like I had lost a loved one; before they had even gone. It’s the most heartbreaking thing, watching your loved one deteriorate and slowly lose their memory and abilities.

I will be walking for my lovely Grandad, who sadly passed away in March this year. He had Parkinson’s which also lead to him having dementia too.

The walk will be from my house (woodley, Reading.) to my parents house in Great Hollands, Bracknell. Which is roughly 8.7 miles and will take me 3/4 hours. For anyone that knows me, will know this is a HUGE challenge for me, I hate walking, I hate long walks and this is going to really push me. I know people do much longer walks, but for someone that doesn’t even like walking for longer than 20 minutes, I am pushing my boundaries.

I would love to raise as much awareness as possible and to make a difference to this wonderful charity getting closer to finding a cure!

Any donations made would be hugely appreciated!

Thank you x
