Louise's Story:

Too many people that I know are fighting, have fought are have lost their battle to cancer. I have had to say goodbye to My Auntie Lena, my Auntie Lillian, my Grandpa over the years, no thanks to cancer. In July 2011 on the day I returned off my honeymoon my Dad told me he had been diagnosed with bladder cancer. My world fell apart. Luckily he was strong enough and was diagnosed early enough to fight it and get the all clear. Then my best friend was diagnosed with cervical cancer. She also got the all clear but sadly not long after she was diagnosed again with secondary cancer. Within a couple of months it had spread through her body and she was not strong enough to fight it. On 10th February 2014 she lost her battle. She was 36 years old. During this time my dad's cancer had also returned. Luckily once again he got the all clear. Although it has not been directly, cancer has affected my life and the lives of my family and friends once too often. If it wasnt for the help, support and care given by the wonderful staff at East Lancashire Hospice then those who did eventually lose their battle would not have been cared for in such an amazing way by amazing people. Not only did they look after them, they looked after us... from offering endless cups of coffee, a bed for the night and a shoulder to cry on.

East Lancashire Hospice offer specialist care, supportive care and end of life care for patients and their families in the hospice and in their own homes. To be able to continue their support for others who need them, East Lancashire Hospice needs to raise almost £3 million every year, that works out at nearly £8,200 each day!!So please support us to raise as much money as possible for such a wonderful charity that is so close to our hearts. We are challenging ourselves to walk 8 miles on Saturday 28th June, run 5k in the Color Run on Saturday 5th July and the run the 'We Love Manchester 10k' on Sunday 13th July. We will do this for all of those fighting cancer, those who have fought and in memory of all those we love who have lost their battle with cancer. Also for the wonderful staff at East Lancashire Hospice who we can not thank enough for their wonderul work xxx
