Story
So after many, many years of watching this race (since dad's first marathon nearly 30 years ago!) and feeling inspired every year, I have finally made the decision to run the London Marathon! This is a terrifying prospect for me as running is really not my thing but I'm hoping that my 4 years doing half ironman races has given me the experience and stamina I need for such a challenging race.
I also wanted to make sure that by doing such an important race, that I had the opportunity to raise some money for a good cause. I'm going to run for The National Brain Appeal which is the charity affiliated with The National Hospital for Neurology & Neurosurgery. I approached this charity for a place for a number of reasons but primarily in memory of some close family friends who sadly passed away last year, all from brain cancer - Harry Aston, Paul Tysoe and Steve Nash. Not only does this charity help raise funds for research, treatment and care for those suffering with cancer but also many others, and their families, dealing with life altering diseases such as Alzheimer's and Parkinson's.
I have £2000 to raise! Please give generously as this is such a worthwhile cause and will also help me achieve my ultimate fitness goal knowing that so many people have faith in me to get over that finish line!
Thank you. Lots of love,
Lucy x
