Story

So, it’s been 3 years since my last fundraising attempt! What an amazing challenge the Snowdon Triple was and an incredible £2,500 raised for the BHF! 😊❤️ You can read my story for taking on the challenge here: https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/challenges4bompy

I’m back with the next challenge and this one seems to be bigger than the last!

Queue: The London Marathon! 🏃🏼‍♀️🏃🏻‍♀️ After a defeat and mental health winning in 2021 - I’m back and ready to kick butt in 2022! 👊🏻

Yes, I hear my friends and family laughing uncontrollably as my running ability is currently poor (and that’s being nice!) and I don’t quite know how I’m going to make it yet!

I will be running the Marathon in memory of Bompy, and attempting to just finish it (I’ll never beat his time!); for Immy, because the BHF provide lifesaving research and treatments and Immy has benefited from these and will continue to benefit from them and finally just to prove to myself that I actually might be Wonderwoman?! If little exercise induced anxiety ridden me can run a Marathon, anyone can do anything!

Why The BHF? ❤️

The British Heart Foundation is a charity that is extremely close to my heart. In October 2018 my grandfather was hospitalised after a heart attack and then later in the week whilst at home he suffered a cardiac arrest. I had to give him CPR for what felt like a lifetime. I knew what I was doing as I had been teaching CPR in school the same week using the BHF resources. 1 wish I have, would be for as many people to learn how to deliver effective CPR, as you never know when you might need it. You can learn here: https://youtu.be/ROEyvmZDStI
The BHF also provide lifesaving research for heart and circulatory diseases, another thing that is very close to my family...

My second reason is because my youngest sister Immy was diagnosed with atrial septal defect (ASD) aka. a hole in the heart. In 2019, Immy bravely underwent open heart surgery at Southampton Hospital, she recovered well but is still having issues with her heart currently. Immy is so full of life, and the bravest person I know, she tackles everything head on with a smile and doesn’t let anything get in her way! She terrifies me and sends my anxiety through the roof when she doesn’t feel well but I admire her determination to not let this get in the way of what she wants!

So here I go... being brave for Imo and Bomp and taking on the biggest challenge of my life so far! I best get some running trainers and gear ... all the gear - no idea springs to mind! Any advice would be appreciated!!

Wish me luck ❤️🏃🏻‍♀️ Thank you sooo much in advance for supporting me ❤️

Thanks for visiting my page. I'm raising money for the British Heart Foundation and I'd be so grateful for your support. The BHF has helped halve the number of people dying from heart and circulatory disease in the UK but sadly every day hundreds of people lose their lives. It's only thanks to support from people like us that the BHF can create new treatments and discover new cures. £24 could pay for two hours of research by an early career scientist, but every pound helps so please give what you can to help me hit my target. Thanks!
