My nan currently suffers from diabetes. She was diagnosed with it over 20 years ago. Medically, diabetes is incurable. She attends the hospital at least 3 times a week to receive treatment. She injects herself with insulin at least 2 times a day to control her glucose level.
Since being diagnosed with this disease she’s had her leg removed, heart failure, memory loss, blood clots, three toes removed from her right foot, kidney failure, and she is now registered as blind.
I understand that she isn’t the only one who suffers from this disease. It is estimated that over 4 million people in the UK are living with diabetes disease (1 in every 16 people). It can or does affect anyone!
Completing this run will hopefully raise awareness of diabetes and in the process raise some money for Diabetes UK. I am dedicating my run to my nan but I will be running for all those who suffer with diabetes! I appreciate any and every donation I receive. Thank you for your time!
