Story
Last June, when our beautiful son, Teddy, was just 6 months old, we were dealt the hammer blow that Alys has breast cancer - a big horrible one.
To say it has been difficult is an understatement but we were lucky enough to get Alys referred to the Royal Marsden. The pioneering work they do in cancer research is known throughout the world. But what many people don’t appreciate is the care and support they give to people who are unlucky enough to be enforced members of the “Cancer Club”.
Cancer is a bewildering and very scary experience and throughout Alys’ treatment we have been left in awe by the kindness and professionalism we find at the Marsden each time we visit.
For this reason I want to give something back and help raise funds so other people can share the hope and new cures/preventions for cancer that the Marsden shares day in, day out.
I’m nearly 50, have cut down the booze, stopped smoking and am now pounding the pavements for the Marsden (and myself!). But if you want to read something truly inspiring have a read of Alys’ blog!
