Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my Just Giving page.

My Name is Mark Ridgway and I am Dad to my Ollie and Stepdad to my Theo.

A couple of years back Theo's dad was taken into hospital with brain problems. The staff did all they could but Andy passed away Christmas 2012 of a brain Aneurysm at only 30 years of age.

Sadly this is an illness that effects as many as 1 in every 100 people of any age, and has a fatality rate of 40%. Andrew was a great man, dad, son and brother. He has a great, close family including an amazing son. and he was a huge Arsenal fan who loved life.

I wanted to do something to help raise awareness and to recognise the possible symptoms of this tragic disease. So I had an idea of a cycle but I wanted it to be challenging, something people would sponsor me for. So I began to think . Then it clicked the Emirates football stadium, Andrews beloved Arsenals ground.

So on Friday 23rd of September 2016 me, my brother Adam Ridgway and friend Marc Wilkes will be cycling the 150 mile trip from Birmingham to London via canal route. We will be cycling over 12 hours a day with limited stops, food, drink and clothing.

Obviously weather could make this very tough. If it be severe rain Or muddy terrain, along with my baggage for overnight stays this cycle will be highly challenging. The canal route will test our stamina and fitness and push us to the limit.

I have set a target of £1,000 and hope everybody who reads this link will At least donate a little for an amazing cause, and to help find a cure for brain aneurysms and the keep memory of Andrew Turner alive.
