Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In collaboration with the Society of Young Publishers, we can now say that Matt's Book - Unfinished Works is now ready. When Matt died in 2013 of Testicular Cancer, we found more of his poems scattered around the house. We were introduced to Pete Davey and Gabi Marcellus-Temple of Flameworks, Creative Arts Facility, Plymouth, by Michael Sullivan, Poet Laureate. Pete Davey organised the illustrations for the new book, encouraging other artists to join him. Zara Markland from the SYP has been the main driving force to pushing the book forward to publication. It has taken a few years to complete as many original ideas have changed, and I think that as we were/are grieving the loss of Matt, this has slowed the process down. The new book includes the original poems from The Gilbert Collection and a beautiful foreword by Stephanie Bennett.

The book will cost £10 a copy and all monies received will go the Teenage Cancer Trust supporting Plymouth. When Matt was diagnosed there were no facilities for Teens and Young Adults at Derriford. Progress has been made but more can be done, and of course this requires cash.

If you would like a copy of Matt's book, please donate on to the page and email me your address  sharon_e_gilbert@hotmail.com
